Many appliances we use today are recent inventions. We now have hair driers, toasters, radios, television and computers. These were not around 1000, 500, or even 100 years ago. Appliances such as these are invented when people realise that a job can be done more easily or better. They learn about parts, materials and energy needed to make things work. They apply their ideas to making a better tool or appliance.
Look at some appliances at home. You know what the outside looks like and you know what they do, so now let us take a look inside.
